Stanley P. Williamson, DDS
Dr. Williamson has two offices in the west metropolitan area. He is the only Board Certified Orthodontist in Edina and Brooklyn Park. He is on the staff of Children's Hospital and is the Orthodontic Consultant for the Craniofacial Clinic which plans reconstructive and rehabilitative care for children born with dental-facial defects. Dr. Williamson is a faculty member of the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry where he teaches part-time in the graduate orthodontic department.
Dr. Williamson received his B.S. and D.D.S. degrees at the University of Iowa where he was honored to be selected to enter dental school after three years. After four years of dental school, he then entered the Pediatric Dentistry Program at Children's Hospital Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was selected as the chief resident his second year. Dr. Williamson practiced full-time as a Pediatric Dentist in Wausau, Wisconsin, and while practicing he became Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. His primary focus of practice was to provide care to children who needed to be treated in the hospital.
He returned to Loyola University in Chicago for two years to complete his specialty training in orthodontics. He then established his orthodontic practice at Southdale Medical Center in Edina in 1986. He began practicing in Brooklyn Park in 1990.
He was honored in 1991 when he became Board Certified in orthodontics. His completed cases were selected as one of the Top Ten by the American Board of Orthodontics. The Board honored him by asking him to display his treated cases at the American Association of Orthodontists meeting in Orlando, Florida as examples of excellence. This also made Dr. Williamson one of only several Dual Board Certified Dentists in the country.
Outside the office, Dr. Williamson is an active golfer and downhill skier. He is a Professional Ski Instructor of America Level III downhill ski instructor, and teaches with the Edina Skijammer Ski School. He met his wife, Catharine, while at the University of Iowa where she was training to be a nurse. They have three adult daughters who have graduated from college.
Dr. Williamson's focus is to use technology to improve the level of orthodontic care for his patients in a personal, caring practice environment. He is one of the first in the area to have a fully digital practice.
